As November rolls around, we’re anxiously awaiting the approach of Thanksgiving, the holiday season and time spent with our loved ones.

The winding down of the year always brings about a time of reflection for us—remembering everything we’ve done or accomplished in months past; looking back on turkey disaster stories, mornings watching the Thanksgiving Day parade or afternoons spent curled up on the couch after one too many pieces of pie; thinking of the people, experiences and things we’ve been blessed with in the last year.

We’d like to take this moment to encourage you to donate to local nonprofit organizations this giving season. We hope that as you read this issue, you—like us—find inspiration in the lives and experiences of your neighbors and the connections that have been made.

This issue celebrates those who enhance our community. Our theme is gratitude. We are thankful that we have the opportunity to celebrate the Potomac community and thank our valued Potomac Lifestyle team members.

Unfortunately, we lost one of our writers recently. Vanessa Mallory Kotz passed away in August. We discovered this sad news as we were working on this issue. You may recall from the October issue she wrote an article about feeding the soul, her now last piece of published writing. Vanessa brought the Potomac community to life with her writing. Her beautiful words were pressed in ink on the pages of several local publications. She loved her community, and she loved to write its story. Vanessa was also very involved in the local arts scene. We remember her fondly and dedicate this issue in her honor.

Enjoy making precious moments with your friends and family this holiday season. Take care, and thanks for reading.

Happy Thanksgiving, Potomac!
